19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his first title for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a former number one, has endured a torrid season, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in particular - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents his first championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt since that period of that year.

The win also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at 21 different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my children simultaneously, so to win a trophy is particularly special," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six finals, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

His defensive strategy and regular reactions on the tennis court had caused some to wonder if his ability to compete at the top level was finished.

But the player has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and play aggressively, backed up by an better service.

The champion came back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five games to take the lead.

The pair traded service breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his maiden ATP Tour championship, took control to create a decider.

Moutet defended four early-game opportunities in a tight final set before the champion secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, he earned the win with a rally at the net area, with Moutet failing to handle a return after a lengthy match.
